iPad Mgmt

I'm not completely finished yet, but here's a sneak peak of what I've got going on.

I've got all of the charging cords wired through the back of my Sterlite cart.  I *taped* two power strips on the side of the back of the cart so the cords wouldn't be stretched when the drawers were pulled out.

Each child has their own pair of 'ear buds.'  I'm keeping them stored in a bead box, and each set is stored corresponding to the students' classroom numbers.  Each pair of 'ear buds' also has a small piece of tape on it with its number in case they get misplaced in the room.  I purchased the 'ear buds' at my local dollar store for $1 each.

Coming soon: who uses the iPads, when?  How do I know which apps I am allowed to go into?

  1. This is amazing. I also have a class set of ipads and I hate how the cords are ALWAYS messy! What a great idea! I could also have two carts and put them on each side of the room so when it is time for ipads there aren't so many kids crowded around the one spot. You are a genius! I am your newest follower!

    1. I got my earbuds at Deals, which is a Dollar Tree store. You can order from their website, too. Here's a link to some *retractable* earbuds they have right now.

    2. Do the earbuds work okay? That's a great deal for a buck if they do. I despise bulky headphones.

    3. For the most part, they worked great. I had to replace a few here and there. Sometimes the would break when the kids pulled them out the of the iPads. Sometimes the didn't work. Sometimes the ear piece would break off. I think I may have replaced 5 total out of 18. I only collected $1/student, but next year I may collect $1.50 to cover replacement costs. Still, overall, a great deal, and I have NO tangled cord problems!

  3. OMG I love this idea! May ask where you got the bead box ? A craft store? And you said you *taped* the power strips. What kind of tape did you use? I'd love to try this idea. Thanks for sharing your creative solution!

  5. I love this idea! I will have 4 different classes next year so I bought 4 different colored bead boxes. I like the numbers in the bead box. How did you print the numbers? Are they labels?

    1. I measured the size of the little compartments, then made a table to those specifications. I printed them out on plain paper, didn't even laminate (but I only used one year), and just taped them to the inside. I didn't have any problems with them coming out or getting torn. A lot more problems with the tangled mess that earbuds turn themselves into, but that's on the kids. It really worked out well. Be sure to put a little piece of tape on each set of earbuds, though, with a number or a name to identify them if they end up around the room.
